Consumer data is a treasure map that can lead businesses to valuable insights and help them better serve customers. But the data is a lump of coal that will not prove valuable without igniting it first.
An intuitive Dashboard User Interface brings front and center the insights needed, highlight speedily the answers needed, and ignite a fire to reveal all kinds of data-driven stories.

Last Friday RK invited me over to his place for dinner where I met Mylo, his pug.
I am willing to bet a Biryani plate that Mylo was actually a Chihuahua dressed as a pug. Nobody gave Mylo the memo that Halloween was over. As soon as I entered RK’s place, the damn dog left no stone unturned to nibble away at my clothes and shoes. But all was forgiven every time his puppy eyes looked up playfully.
RK and I spent some time reminiscing over our trek through the Himalayas, but most of it was through client work. Two hours later when I stepped out of the room, I noticed that Mylo had gnawed away at my laptop bag. Damn it Mylo!
The next day when I was shopping around for a new laptop bag, I chanced upon a bag with 4 pockets and several sections within — versus I had only 1 pocket and a few small compartments in the older bag. I immediately purchased it.
“RK, I know how we can approach the new dashboard implementation for our client. I will set up a 3-way call with the UI team and go over it tomorrow.” I left a voice note for RK as soon as I got back to my place.
This simple purchase was the inspiration for setting up a new Dashboard for our client.

My new purchase not only had a pocket to house my laptop, but also a second pocket to keep my bluetooth mouse, pens, sticky notes, chargers, and keys.
Each compartment in the pocket was lined with a red stitching for clear segmentation and ease of use. The third pocket had no compartment and could be used to house anything. The fourth segment was placed at the rear, and was perfect for housing passports and small documents. This bag was clearly marketed towards digital nomads.
For eg: If your North star metric is sign-ups, then the passport will show the sign-ups that happened across various geographical locations for a given period of time.
The goal of a dashboard is to create an app that presents a bird’s-eye view of the projects and business operations simultaneously, while also empowering the analyst to dive deep into the data to glean key insights.
A clean, powerful UI is an under-appreciated component of building a useful dashboard, so are you ready to make the most of it?
Here are 15 important design concepts to level up your dashboard UI implementation.

When an automobile eCommerce giant approached Net Solutions, volumes of transaction data lay under-analyzed in our client’s database.
With the organization looking to utilize legacy data for building a sales and inventory strategy, the aim for the dashboard was to slice, dice and present the data neatly so it shows patterns, patterns that help the business draw insights in order to make decisions to reduce costs or increase revenue.
We helped our client by extracting and transforming the transactional data from their databases into meaningful data using which we enabled our client to visualize trends and behaviors using different visualizations and empowered the core team with quicker access to all the data and reports they need for an effective and fast decision making.
To stand tall to pain points of the client, the dashboard had to:
-
Provide support for maximum visual types and chart representations
-
Ease of collecting data from all types of systems and integrations and sharing
-
Support for custom dashboards
-
Interactive reports that can be drilled down to any level
Net Solutions leveraged Power BI to make it all happen and present a fully functional dashboard to inform on Sales & Revenue, Predictive Inventory management and Intelligent marketing through segmented targeting.
