I use it everyday.” – Marco M.
  • “I have used other chatbots before, but none as comprehensive as Tidio. What really stands out to me is the ability to choose templates based on my strategies and goals. This really helps simplify the setup process while maximizing performance. Lyro, the AI agent, is also super helpful. I am always concerned that visitors will get stuck in an infinite loop when chatting with AI, especially for those hard-to-answer questions. But, the bot has a built-in feature to push queries like this directly to a live agent. Its ability to crawl our site’s content to create a knowledge base took away much of my skepticism regarding the setup of this feature.” – Kayela J.

Negative reviews:

  • “While Tidio offers solid options for creating chatbots, advanced customization can be somewhat limited. For someone like me, seeking complete adaptability in the logic and design of chatbots, I sometimes feel there are constraints that limit the implementation of more specific strategies.” – Lonie G.

Bundle has allowed us to realize that complexity in an e-commerce platform. Assigning digital accounts to Sales Reps has allowed us to get customers online that usually place orders via phone. The time we have saved is significant..”

Negative reviews:

  • “At the time we onboarded, there weren’t many B2B options and not enough attribute filters for our products. We used 3rd parties to customize and fill in the gaps we needed.” – Automotive user
  • “Not much to dislike so far. Only community help and app are a bit less than Shopify. We would like more than 600 variations for products but it is far better than Shopify’s 100 variant limit.” – Building materials user

  • “It is not against Shogun but there’s a learning curve. There are so many features and will need educating to familiarize myself. Maybe if there’s a way to make it more user-friendly to beginners like me.” – Odette W.

We needed to import an excel file and have it match only on SKU. StockSync works beautifully and their interface is powerful, yet simple to configure what fields will sync and run. We had an issue with some of our SKUs that are funky and don’t always play well with Excel, but support responded quickly and updated their import to work with our requirements and at no extra charge! I could have saved a lot of time trying the other sync apps on BC if I had started with StockSync. Highly recommend!!!”

What to Consider When Choosing BigCommerce Apps?

As there are hundreds of apps that span across many different scenarios, you’ll want to consider the following when deciding how to extend your BigCommerce store with apps:

1. Type of App

There are two kinds of apps that can be added to your BigCommerce store: single-click apps or connector apps.

  • Single-click apps (recommended) use OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code Grant flows allowing you to simply click “install” and gain a permanent access token for making REST API requests. This is both easy to install and use.
  • Connector apps use manual OAuth token creation which require you to generate store-level API credentials and to configure those in the app. This kind of app is better suited to custom integrations and are not the kind of app you’ll see in the BigCommerce app store Marketplace.

2. Reviews

Product reviews can be very helpful in making a decision, but sometimes they are hard to come by or are not specific to the functionality of the BigCommerce app. Wherever possible, look for reviews available directly on the BigCommerce marketplace. For more comprehensive or recent reviews, you can check review sites such as G2 or Capterra.

Note, reviews can be heavily biased towards both highly positive (if incentivized) and highly negative experiences, as most users do not take the time to review products they use unless they are asked or are unhappy. Whenever unsure, default to a free trial option to test for yourself.

3. App description

The marketplace app description is a great place to start to learn about the specific functionality available in the BigCommerce app, looking closely at any video or product photos available. Whenever available, these listings will also include links to documentation (e.g. installation guides) or partner websites, which give you a chance to seek out additional functionality information or FAQs directly.

Note, when seeking this information on partner websites, the specific BigCommerce app may not include the full capabilities available by a third-party, so only trust the documented functionality of the app.

4. Provided support

As part of its vetting process, BigCommerce requires that all partners have contact information available about their apps. However, reviews are a great place to note if support is either well-delivered or often delayed. Look for website sections around FAQs, video tutorials and methods of support (forum, email, phone number) to see how easy it will be to self-service if you have questions or receive support if you need it.

Once you’ve completed your process of vetting these apps, you can have a decent amount of trust that your chosen app is a good fit for your business.
